V-Day is a global movement to stop violence against women and
girls. Through V-Day campaigns, local volunteers and college students
produce annual benefit performances to raise awareness and funds for
anti-violence groups within their own communities. Last year over 4200
performances took place around the globe. We've been able to find info

It's Valentine's Day and someone we love will be the feature this Sunday,
February 14th at the <a href="http://poetsasylum.org/" target="_blank">Poets'
Asylum</a>. <b>Cynthia French</b> is a writer, performer and organizer. She
has been performing poetry for 8 years throughout the country and overseas, and
has won multiple awards and grants for her work. She is currently working on
her first book-length creative nonfiction project. French is the Slam Master
for SlamMN!, the poetry slam in Minneapolis, MN and was the event coordinator
for the 2002 National Poetry Slam - the largest poetry event in Minnesota
history.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Come check out what she has to share! Join us at Jumpin'
Juice and Java (335 Chandler Street, Worcester). The sign-up list goes
out by 6:00 p.m. and the reading starts by 6:30 p.m. No cover however
please put some money in the bucket; it's how we pay the feature.</font></p>

<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">February 7th Revisited</font></h3></center>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">As expected it was a pretty quiet night at the Poets' Asylum.
No matter, those who came out enjoyed a perky intimate open mic and then an
<b>open slam</b>. Danny Balel & Jackie Morrill went head-to-head for two
rounds. It was a tight competition with the scores all landing within 6/10ths
of a point from one another. At the end of the night <u>Jackie</u> edged out
Danny by 3/10ths of a point and went home with an extra $10 in her pocket.</font></p>
