<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Shakti Regrouping Tonight</font></h3></center>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Are you a woman who writes? Then consider stopping by <a href="http://theqma.com/" target="_blank">The Q Cafe</a> (362 Chandler Street,
Worcester) tonight at 7:00 p.m. A group of interested women will be getting
together to discuss restarting the <a href="http://www.poetsasylum.org/shakti.html"><b>Shakti Women's
Writing Pact</b></a>. </font></p>

<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Ted Blackler @ The Spot on Thursday</font></h3></center>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Area poet <b>Ted Blackler</b> will be the feature this week at
<u>The Spot</u> at the Hotel Vernon (Kelly Square, Worcester). Run by Bobby
Gibbs, the reading is held in the Kelly Square Yacht Club and starts at 7:30
p.m. An open mic follows the feature. No cover but bring money to buy a
beverage and to support the feature.</font></p>

<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Worcester Storytellers this Friday Night</font></h3></center>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><u>Worcester Storytellers</u> meets on the second Friday of
each month at the Village Arts Gallery (1 Ekman Street, Worcester). The
reading starts at 8:00 p.m. There will be an open mic followed <b>Paul
Gagnon</b> will be the feature. Worcester Storytellers never charges a cover.
They ask you throw some money into the basket to support the artists who

<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Coming up on Sunday, April 13th</font></h3></center>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><img src="http://www.poetsasylum.org/photodata//Miscellaneous/thumbnails/Jack%20McCarthy.jpg" title="The amazing Jack McCarthy features on April 13th!" align="right" hspace="5">
One of our favorite poets is coming to the area on tour and he'll be the
feature at the Poets' Asylum tonight. <b>Jack McCarthy</b> is a working guy
from the Boston area who's been writing poetry since the mid-60s. The
Boston Phoenix has named him "Best Standup Poet," the Boston Poetry Awards
"Best Love Poet," and the Cambridge Poetry Awards "Best Spoken Word" and
"Best Humorous Poet". The Boston Globe says, "In the poetry world, he's a
rock star".</font></p>

<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">April 6th Revisited</font></h3></center>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">It was a busy weekend for poetry and poets on Sunday. First
off <b>Bill MacMillan</b> completed the <a href="http://www.wideopenwest.com/%7Eefavers0976/24n_front.htm" target="_blank">24 Hour Poetry Reading</a> he started Saturday night. Even
after 100s of poems he had the energy to jump around the room talking about
natural selection and dinosaur books. And if the feat of reading poetry for
24 hours straight isn't enough Bill's efforts also netted the Poets' Asylum
over $700 toward the expenses of the 2008 Worcester Slam Team. Thanks Bill.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">After Bill completed his mission the regular Sunday night
reading was held. Following the open mic we held the final <b>Open Qualifying
Slam</b> for the 2008 Worcester Slam Season. Six brave souls took to the stage
- a around of applause for Kate, Cassandra, Cyndi, Gary, Sam and Dave K. At
the end of two rounds the winners were <u>Sam</u> and <u>Gary</u>. They move
on to the Spring semi-finals on May 4th.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Thanks to everyone who popped in during the day, came to the
