<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">24 hour Poetry Feature</font></h3></center>

<b>Bill MacMillan</b> will undertake a 24-hour poetry feature
starting Saturday, April 5th at 8:00 p.m. Bill will read poetry, his own work
and covers, over the following 24 hours, wrapping up as the weekly Asylum open
reading gets underway. <a href="http://theqma.com/" target="_blank">The Q
Cafe</a> has generously agreed to stay open all night long so that Bill may
undertake this endeavor.</font></p>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Bill is taking part in a <a href="http://www.wideopenwest.com/%7Eefavers0976/24n_front.htm" target="_blank">coordinated national movement</a> to have 24-hour readings
across the country happening at the same time. The Poets' Asylum will be using
this as a fundraising opportunity. Visit our <a href="http://www.poetsasylum.org/fundraising.html">Fundraising</a> page to make a donation.</font></p>
<p><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">Make plans to come down for an hour or two and keep Bill company as he makes
his way through 24 hours of poetry.</font></p>

Head over to the <u>Poets' Asylum</u> for the final <b>Open Qualifying
Slam</b> for the 2008 Worcester Slam Season. The top two finishers in
tonight's slam move on to the Spring semi-final in May. More info on
this thing called Poetry Slam and how they are run at the Poets' Asylum
can be found on our <a href="http://www.poetsasylum.org/slam.html">Slam</a> page.</font></p>

Workshops</u><span style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;"> this afternoon between 3 and 5 p.m. at the offices of the
</span><a style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;" href="http://wcpa.homestead.com/" target="_blank"> Worcester County
Poetry Association</a><span style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;"> (1 Ekman Street, first floor, Worcester). This
week </span><b style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;">Michael Fisher</b><span style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;"> will facilitate a workshop titled
</span><i style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;">The Poem Can't Say a Thing If It doesn't Sing: A discussion of Prosody
and Tone in Poetry. </i></font><font style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;" face="garamond">In this workshop we will discuss the effect of
prosody on a poems meaning and tone. We will be looking at examples
from Paul Celen, Anne Waldman and Charles Bukowski. By exploring these
examples, it is my hope that we can grow as poets and expand are "poet
toolbox." </font><font style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br></font></p><p align="justify"><font style="font-family: arial,sans-serif;" face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><br>

<h3><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">March 30th Revisited</font></h3></center>
<p align="justify"><font face="Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif">This week the <b>Hampshire College Slam Team</b> was our
feature. Newcomers Sophia Holtz, Charley Pope and Andy Locke were joined by
seasoned slammers Sean Conlon and Esme Vanndrager for a high energy set. Their
well practiced set included stories of growth, growing up, missing gloves,
marketing rants and the addiction of poetry. They head off to Albuquerque, NM
on Wednesday to compete at the National College Poetry Slam. Thanks for sharing
your talent folks. Have an amazing adventure.</font></p>
