Greeting from the Poets' Asylum.
------------------------------
Coming up on Sunday, May 17th
Please join the *Poets' Asylum* on Sunday, May 17th for our regular poetry
open mic and a feature by PSI President *Scott Woods *. Woods has published
work in a variety of publications and has been featured multiple times in
national press, including multiple appearances on National Public Radio. He
MCs the Writers' Block Poetry Night, an open mic series in Columbus , Ohio .
In 2006 he became the first poet to ever complete a 24-hour solo poetry
reading, a feat he bested every year since by performing for 24 hours each
time, but without repeating a single poem. You can check out his work at
www.blackair.org.
Come on down to Jumpin' Juice and Java (335 Chandler Street, Worcester). The
reading starts at *6:00 p.m.* No cover; please throw some money in the
bucket to support the feature.

May 10th Revisited
Thanks to all who came out for the Mother's Day edition of the Poets'
Asylum. We had our first full open in a couple of months, it was good to
hear a wide variety of work. Welcome to first time reader Peter, do come
again.
Asylum regular *Gary Hoare* was our feature this week. Gary moved from off
the cuff readings to reading from the printed page to reading off his iPod
Touch. He covered a They Might Be Giants song and read an excerpt from Life,
the Universe and Everything by Douglas Adams. While he shared a couple of
his slam poems he mostly stuck with quieter, introspective pieces. His work
found inspiration in diverse sources, from the History Channel to the
grocery store to recycling. It was a well formed set. Thanks for the words
Gary.
------------------------------
The Poets' Asylum is in its eighteenth year of bringing the best in
Performance and Slam Poetry to Central Massachusetts and beyond.
