Greetings from the Poets' Asylum.

Worcester Storytellers - Friday, Feb. 8th
*Worcester Storytellers* meets on the second Friday of each month at the
Village Arts Gallery (1 Ekman Street, Worcester). The reading starts at 8:00
p.m. There will be an open mic followed by local poet *Gary Hoare* as the

some money into the basket to support the artists who feature. For more info
please contact Dave Macpherson <davemacp at aol.com>.

Coming up on Sunday, February 10th
[image: Dave Keali'i] This week at the *Poets' Asylum* one of our own takes
the stage as our feature. *David Keali'i* is the former host of the Monday
night Community Voices poetry open mic in Westfield MA. He's been published
in a few different places and has featured at venues in Western & Central
MA. He is known for his poetry related to the Hawaiian Islands, gay identity
or his strange desire to conquer vast swathes of the South Pacific.
Please join us at The Q Cafe <http://theqma.com/> (362 Chandler Street,
Worcester). The open mic sign-up list goes out around 7:00 p.m. and the
reading starts closer to 7:30 p.m. No cover; please throw some money in the
bucket to support the feature.

February 3rd Revisited
The Asylum this week had a quietish start with a fun open mic. A couple of
new voices took to the stage (welcome) and a couple of old faces found their
way to The Q for the first time (good to see you). Following the open Mr. *the
Klute* took the stage and kicked the energy level up a few hundred percent.
At times wheezingly funny, and then the next moment starkly serious, he
shared his well crafted work. After the obligatory "signature" slam piece
our black trenchcoat wearing feature sweated his way through poems about
love, racism, fear and the power of the color black. A powerful start to
kick-off his 7 feature/9 day mini-tour. Thanks Klute, glad to have you share
our stage.

The Poets' Asylum is in its fifteenth year of bringing the best in
Performance and Slam Poetry to Central Massachusetts and beyond.
