Greetings from the Poets' Asylum.
------------------------------
Christopher Johnson @ The Ship

Tonight *The Spot*, the weekly Thursday night poetry reading at the Hotel
Vernon (1 Kelly Square, Worcester), will hold an open mic and a
feature by *Christopher
Johnson*. The reading starts at 8:00 p.m. with an open mic run. No cover;
bring a few bucks to throw in the captain's hat and to buy a $1 draft. 21+

Coming up on Sunday, August 24th

The *Poets' Asylum* is pleased to welcome *Eric Urban* as our feature. Eric
Urban is Poet Laureate of his mind. Recently, he was possessed by the soul
of TchTchZiggleZiggle BammaBam Floglesworny CreampieRagnarok, the Third,
when he invented the first trans-universal microwave oven. TV Dinners have
never tasted the same. He enjoys long walks on short piers and candlelight
flag burnings. He recently invented a tasty new confection called
Poopsicles; they will be on sale after the show. And, o yeah, he did some
sort of slam thing too.

Please join us at our new home, Jumpin' Juice and
Java<http://www.poetsasylum.org/venuelink.html>(335 Chandler Street,
Worcester). The reading starts at
*6:00 p.m.*. No cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the
feature.

August 17th Revisited

We enjoyed a marvelous night at Poets' Asylum Sunday night with a packed
open mic and excellent feature by *Molly Meacham*. The new venue, Jumpin'
Juice and Java, was ready for us and we pretty well took over the place.
There were a lot of new faces in the audience as well, we hope you'll join
us again. Molly Meacham's feature mixed her own work with a handful of
covers. She shared poetry about her family, her students and how women
connect to their bodies. It was a great first feature at our new home.
Thanks for the words Molly!

2008 Poets' Asylum T-shirt

[image: 2008 shirt front] The 2008 Poets' Asylum T-shirt premiered at the
Team Send-off Feature on July 31st. The shirts will next be available at the
Poets' Asylum reading on August 24th at Jumpin' Juice and Java . We'll work
on getting them set-up online as time permits.

The regular price for the 2008 t-shirts is $15. Unisex sizes range from
small to 2XL and we have just one women's sizes left (it's a large). We've
already sold out of unisex 3XL and women's small, medium and extra large.

Thanks to Bill MacMillan for this years design. The image to the right
appears on the front of the t-shirt. The back lists Worcester, MA and
poetsasylum.org. A generous donor covered most of the cost of printing the
2008 t-shirts and we are grateful for their support.

Proceeds from the sales support the Poets' Asylum.
