Rt. 9 near UMass Med, Worcester) on Saturday, October 7th. This week their
feature will be Asylum co-host *Sou MacMillan*. Sou will also be opening an
exhibit of her art at the Zodiac Cafe that morning. The reading runs from

extra language at home. No cover; a hat is passed to pay the feature.

Coming up on Sunday, October 8th

[image: Poetic Boxing] This week at the Poets' Asylum we'll hold the next *Open
Qualifying Slam* for the 2007 Worcester Slam team. The top two finishers
tonight move on to the Winter Semi-final/iWPS Slam-off on December 17th. If
you've never seen a slam c'mon down and check it out. They're a lot of fun.
We don't take it too seriously, you'll be treated to poets giving you their
all and YOU can be the judge of how well they gave what they had to give!
More info on can be found on our Slam
<http://www.poetsasylum.org/slam.html>page.

Join us at the Java Hut, 1073A Main Street in Worcester. The sign-up list
goes up around 7:00 p.m. and the open mic will start sometime after that.
The slam follows the open mic. No cover; bring a few bucks for the bucket to
support the reading and to buy a tasty beverage in support of the venue.

October 1st Revisited

Simply spectacular night at the Asylum this week. The house was packed with
regulars and visitors from far and wide. The open mic was red hot with wordy
goodness and celloist Star St. Germain. Plus we had an freakin' amazing
feature, *Rachel McKibbens*. Rachel brought with her a ton of new work that
was rugged and powerful, ripe with emotion. Her pieces captured for us the
pain of abuse, the sting of racism, the power of action and how deeply the
things we see affect us. Hard hitting words; we expected nothing less.
Thanks you Rachel!

Join us next week for the next open qualifying slam.

The November 3rd Club
Call for Submissions

The deadline for submissions to Autumn Issue of "The November 3rd
Club<http://www.november3rdclub.com/>"
is October 10th. Take a gander at their Submission
Guidelines<http://www.november3rdclub.com/submissions.html>and keep
them flush with things to read and (hopefully) publish.

The November 3rd Club is an online literary journal seeking to "up the ante"
of literary political writing. They are seeking poetry, fiction and creative
nonfiction that resonates with a political message and rises above the mere
rhetoric and rant. The new issue goes life on or around Halloween -- just in
time for the election!

As always, this issue of the "November 3rd Club" will be brought to you by
the hardworking editorial staff: Victor D. Infante (editor in chief), Carlye
Archibeque & Richard Modiano (nonfiction), Lenore Weiss & Steve Berman
(fiction), Ray McNiece & Richard Beban (poetry), and Sam Hamill
(contributing editor).
