Join the Poets' Asylum this week for our regular open mic and a feature by Jen Mahon. Jen Mahon is a poet, karateka, ceramist, yogini, nurse, artist, healer, and former somnambulist. After writing some atrocious poetry in Philly, she moved to Massachusetts and learned to write better poetry under the tutelage of professors and nationally renown slam poets. In 2005, she trekked to Austin with nothing more than her car and her cats. One year ago, she moved back to Massachusetts to fulfill her dream of becoming a veterinarian, and started school last week. Since the Poets' Asylum is where she got her start in performance poetry seven years ago, she is thrilled to be the feature here tonight.
Come on down to Jumpin' Juice and Java (335 Chandler Street, Worcester). The reading starts at 6:00 p.m.. No cover; please throw some money in the bucket to support the feature.
Our second week in a new space and another amazing feature. This week Eric Urban brought an action packed, multi-media performance and thrilled the gathered audience to a standing ovation. The Alphonso Rigatoni Show part II - Quest for Mars represents the sort of high energy for which Urban is known for. At times loud, almost always unexpected, filled with great laughs, pratfalls and snacks, this was a feature that won't soon be forgotten. Thanks for the words & creativity Urban!
The 2008 Poets' Asylum T-shirt premiered at the Team Send-off Feature on July

online via our Merchandise page.
The regular price for the 2008 t-shirts is $15. Unisex sizes range from small to 2XL and we have just one women's sizes left (it's a large). We've already sold out of unisex 3XL and women's small, medium and extra large. For online sales please expect a $3.50 shipping fee to be added per t-shirt.
Thanks to Bill MacMillan for this years design. The image to the right appears on the front of the t-shirt. The back lists Worcester, MA and poetsasylum.org. A generous donor covered most of the cost of printing the 2008 t-shirts and we are grateful for their support.
Proceeds from the sales support the Poets' Asylum.
